Guayabo National Monument
The territory of the Guayabo National Monument in the province of Cartago, covers 49 acres (20 ha) of land and contains the most important archaeological site in Costa Rica, a world heritage of civil engineering. This is a series of architectural structures used between 1000 before and 1400 AD. However, the background for the creation and the reason for leaving this place are unknown. Yet, it has been shown, that there were skilled craftsmen, such as fishermen, hunters and farmers, under the rule of caciques.
