Cocos Island is a paradise on earth and for divers a wonderland, as for diving it is one of the most beautiful areas in the world. The island is located 535 km off the coast of Costa Rica in the Pacific Ocean. Thanks to its large fresh water collection, the island was once considered a strategic point for seafarers to procure food and wood. In addition, especially pirates were interested in Cocos, in order to look for the hidden treasures, which still are supposed to exist today. Nowadays the main attraction is diving. There are dive sites around the island, where there are large numbers of hammerhead sharks, dolphins, devil rays and tuna. However, not only in the water the diversity of species is tempting, on the island live many endemic species.
