Although Costa Rica is not primarily visited because of its beaches, it counts along its coasts almost 300 beaches with different characteristics. We find white, gray and black sand beaches with fine or coarse sand, beaches with crystal clear, calm water ideal for snorkeling or with large waves, which invite you to surf.
On the Caribbean side we find in Cahuita National Park and south of Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo white sand beaches surrounded by nature, which are good for bathing. The coral reefs can be explored during snorkeling.
On the Pacific coast there are several kilometers of beaches, some of them perfect for surfing, others with wonderful sand and palm trees for relaxing. The most beautiful beaches in Guanacaste include Playa Avellana, Playa Conchal, Playa Hermosa, Playa Guiones as well as the beaches of Tamarindo and Sámara. In the Central Pacific, a visit to Santa Teresa, Manuel Antonio and Playa Hermosa is worthwhile visiting for beach lovers.
